Urmston & District Veterans Bowling League

Minutes of Annual General Meeting, 2022

30 November 2022

Held at Urmston Men’s Club

Walton Park absent.

Chairman opened meeting and minutes silence for past members.

Minutes from last A.G.M. (2021) were available on the web site. They were approved.

Secretaries report: Mike thanked committee.

Correspondence from U.S.C. regarding their move to Sale Excel. Phil Wrenn gave meeting details of the reasons why.

Fixture secretary's report:

The notable feature of the season was how often teams played short and/or used a player twice. There was at least one absentee in 45 matches (20% of matches). A player played twice in 60 matches (27%). 41% of matches were affected by either of both of these.

Last year (2021) was exceptional, with a relaxed playing twice rule. Compared to the last normal season (2019), teams playing short nearly doubled, and players playing twice nearly quadrupled.

Financial report: Ross went through the finances for last year.

The comparative figures are for two years, although not much happened in 2020. Income was generally unchanged. Expediture increased mainly due to more awards (not all competitions were played in 2021). Overall the league recorded a deficit of about £200. With our reserves, this not a cause for panic, but needs to be watched.

The Nationwide Building Society has closed our account, and we were currently looking for a replacement. NatWest looked feasible. Currently the balance is held in cash, and we recognise that this is not satisfactory.
