New players aged over 55 are required by teams in this League please email ecclesvets@gmail.com if interested The Eccles and District Veterans’ Bowling League is for players over 55 years of age. It is based around Eccles, and extends to Swinton, Irlam, Stretford, Sale and Urmston. There are also knockout cup competitions for each division, plus Merit and Pairs: LEAGUE MERIT 'A' - The competition took place on Monday 3rd June at Davyhulme Park. There was a strong field of entrants from a number of clubs. The final was contested between Stuart Metcalf ( Newtown ) and Alan Walker ( Davyhulme ) Stuart winning the final 21 - 5 LEAGUE MERIT 'B' - The competition took place on Monday 17th June at Winton Park. In total there were 17 entrants from a number of clubs. The final was contested between Haydn Surtees and Tony Eckersley ( Newtown ) . Haydn winning the final 21 - 19 LEAGUE PAIRS - The competition took place on Monday 8th July at Eccles Rec. There was a great turn out with many clubs represented. The final was contested between Billy Lambert & Stephen Satchwell & Mark Worrall & Steve Cresswell. Mark and Steve winning the competition 21 - 8.
