The 2022 Bolton Parks Permit is £72. Malcolm Russell had previously indicated to me that it would be £70 - he has since apologised for this error and I inturn make my apologies to all those I had advised.

Malcolm Russell has sent an email saying we can use the Bowling Green Clubhouses - please see email of 13th May here

Malcolm Russell confirms the 2021 permit for Bolton Park home bowlers will be £50 - please see his email of 24th March here.

Following a successful barage of emails to Adele Warren in early December, Adele agreed to restrict the increase in the permit for the 2020 season to £45. So many thanks to those who contacted Adele. However, in an exchange of emails with Malcolm Russell this figure might rise to around £50 in 2021.

The following paper is to be considered at the Council Meeting on 6th December - it is written by Malcolm Russell and is based on his consultation with Clubs in 2019 / 2020.

The Bolton News published an article on 3rd December 2020 written by Chris Gee - click here to read.

Email sent to all team representatives by Clive Fenn on 4th December 2020

To All BPVABA, Bolton & District Bowling League, Mills Competition Team Contacts and League Representatives

Dear All

Following my email yesterday, an article written by Chris Gee on bowling was published in the Bolton News. The article was titled Plans to almost triple fees for Bolton's crown green bowlers”.

As a consequence, it was brought to my attention that The Executive Cabinet Member – Adele Wilbraham for Environmental Service Delivery will be making a decision on the cost of permits at the meeting on Monday, 7th December at 10:30. The proposal is to increase the price of Bowling Permits to £65 for 2021. This is a massive increase which many of our members will be unwilling to pay as a result Clubs will lose members, this in turn could effect individual teams in that teams will have insufficient bowlers and thereby drop out of leagues and some greens fall out of use – with the consequence of potentially decimating our leagues and eventually to the demise of much of the bowling community in Bolton. In addition to the decimation of our leagues individuals’ health will suffer due to reduced exercise and social interactions.

More details are on the website and can be downloaded under the Permits on the home page of our league websites. Can I please urge you all to email Adele Warren at over the weekend to reconsider the proposed £65 permit fee and reduce cost increase? We have very little time to act so where possible please forward to colleagues in your Clubs and Teams.
