  3. Matters Arising. There were no matters arising
  4. Officers Reports. The Secretary said that matches scheduled for the “wash out” Friday 28th July could be played on Friday 29th September. There was no problem if the teams affected wanted to play them sooner, although the results should not be posted on the web site prior to 29th September.
  5. Postponed Matches. Carole Critchley (Church Inn) said that their opponents on Friday 28th July (Goostrey A) insisted that their green was fit to play and the match should go ahead even though it was raining heavily. She felt that opposing captains should have a say as to whether play should proceed. The Secretary said that the existing rule simply says that matches should only be cancelled if the green is unfit before the start of play – rule 5.7(b). The general opinion was that the two captains should agree, and common sense prevail. Carole will consider a rule amendment prior to the 2018 AGM.
  6. New Players Handicaps. Handicaps were agreed for 4 players who have now completed in excess of 4 games.
  7. Mixed Pairs Draw. The draw took place for this year’s competition. 28 entries were received. The preliminary rounds will take place on Friday 1st September at various greens and the draw will be posted on the web site. Mere Bowling Club will host the final day on Sunday 3rd September commencing at 12.30pm.

The final and third place playoff will take place on Sunday 1st October. All evening games to commence at 6.30pm. Final days play commences at 12.30pm. The meeting was reminded that if a club entered only one team and used players from a higher team the higher team handicap would be applied.
