Minutes of meeting held Thursday 14th August at Mere Parish Club

  1. Apologies for absence were received from Ken Barker (President) Chris Grice (Treasurer) Peter Turner (Railway) Swettenham were not represented.
  2. Minutes of previous meeting held 19th June were read and accepted. Proposed Cranford BC seconded by Railway BC
  3. Matters arising There were no matters arising.
  4. Officers’ Reports There were no officer's reports other than those to be discussed under specific agenda headings.
  5. New Players Handicaps. Handicaps were agreed for new members who have now completed in excess of 4 games.
  6. Postponed Matches. The Secretary said that due to two consecutive Fridays being pretty much a wash out as far as games were concerned, most clubs had managed to rearrange matches in line with rule 5.7 (d). However, not all home captains had advised the Secretary of the new playing date. Two matches remain outstanding and in the case of each, one of the teams were prepared to award the game to the opposition. The Management Committee wouldn't agree to this as an unfair advantage would have been gained by other teams and potentially affecting the league winners or runners up. Agreement was reached and Knutsford 'A' will play Railway 'A' on Thursday 11th September and Warford Park 'A' will play Victory Hall 'B' on Saturday 23rd August.
  7. Mixed Pairs Draw. 27 entries this year for the event being hosted by The Railway Inn Bowling Club. The draw took place and will be posted on the web site together with approximate start times.
  8. Jack Bryning Six-a-Side. 16 teams entered for this year's six-a-side team knockout for the Jack Bryning trophy. Again the draw will be posted on the web site as soon as venues have been confirmed. The Secretary asked the clubs who had not entered a team if there was a specific reason for them not to participate. Arthur Lamb (Goostrey) said that their players felt that with12 games being played on the night that it was too long of an evening. Brian Holcroft (High Legh) said that with players playing in many leagues he felt that many players had had enough. He suggested that it might be better supported if it were played earlier in the season. Perhaps a matter for the AGM?
  9. Presentation Evening. The meeting was reminded that the Presentation Evening would be held on Friday 28th November at Mere Parish Club, and as usual clubs were asked to provide a prize for the raffle.
  10. Any Other Business. Brian Holcroft (High Legh) asked what action the league had taken against two players involved in an altercation at Equiport Bowling Club. The Secretary advised the meeting that the Management Committee had investigated the matter and had written to each of the two league members concerned advising them that their conduct was unacceptable and any further breaches could result in a period of suspension or their registration with the league withdrawn.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.40pm
