Knutsford Friday Bowling League

Minutes of meeting held Thursday 24th January 2013 at Mere Parish Club

  1. Apologies for absence John Leah & Jim Gray (Chelford) John Glover (Drovers) Ann Hodges (High Legh) Hazel Crook (Knutsford) and Mike Grocott Oughtrington. Drovers, Knutsford and Swettenham were not represented.
  2. Minutes of previous meeting held 16th August 2012 were read and accepted. Proposed Molly Sutton (Church Inn) and seconded by Bernard McLenaghan (Cranford).
  3. Matters arising There were no matters arising..
  4. Officers Reports. The Secretary had nothing to report, but read a letter from Francis House Children's Hospice thanking us for the donation received from our "guess the sweets in the jar" competition held during presentation evening. The Treasurer presented the annual accounts, which showed a balance in the bank of £609.25 He gave a brief résumé and explained the major differences between income and expenditure from previous years and closed by saying that to comply with rule 6.3 he would propose a rebate of approximately £16 per team who competed during the 2012 season at the forthcoming AGM. The Chairman said that most of her comments would be saved for the AGM, but did thank clubs for hosting the various competitions during last year and the Secretary & Treasurer for their work.
  5. Competitions
    The Secretary gave the dates and proposed venues for 2013 competitions and asked delegates to confirm that their clubs were prepared to host them.
    Individual - Sunday 9thJune - Warford Park Bowling Club.
    Pairs - Saturday 6th July - Oughtrington Bowling Club
    Mixed Pairs - Sunday 1st September - Victory Hall Memorial Club
  6. Proposals for the AGM
    1. Amend rule 5.6 to allow practice for visiting teams.

    2. Yellow jacks to be used for all pairs competitions.

    3. Beef up rule 5.7(d) regarding postponed matches and enforce.

    5. Amend rule 5.3 to read greens without the benefit of floodlights matches to commence by 6pm

    6. Existing officers are all prepared to stand again for election. However, this does not prevent others standing. Any proposals must have the agreement of the person being proposed.
    The secretary said that any further proposals must be received prior to the AGM.
  7. Any Other Business. The Secretary informed the meeting that the Knutsford Men's league are to play their Team Knockout at the end of the season, however this will not interfere with our long standing six-a-side team knockout for the Jack Bryning trophy.

    The chairman reminded the meeting of the AGM to be held on Thursday 28th February at 8pm and not 21st of February as shown in last year's handbook.
